frequently asked questions

Q: Where can I purchase Churchfield uniform?

A: Uniform can be ordered from Vortex, a local company that produces a range of products for schools. Order forms can be collected from the office or can be found on the 'Virtual Office' page, under the 'Parents' Info' section.

Q: What time does school start and finish?

A: School starts at 8:55am, and finishes at 3:15pm.

Q: What if my child is late?

A: If your child is late for school, they will need to enter through the front office where one of our friendly office staff will take your child to their class. You will also need to complete a short from stating the reason for your child being late. This is so that we can offer tailored support to individual families when needed.

Q: What is the 'points system' and how do you reward children?

A:  Teachers reward children using a merits system. Pupils earn merits for various reasons, but we never take merits away from children. Depending on the number of merits a child has, they may be able to enter the bronze, silver or gold prize draw to win a gift voucher. We also run a 'points system' in school. A bronze, silver and gold merit award are all worth varying points, so are weekly Golden Awards and half-termly Behavior All-Star awards. At the end of the year a child's points are calculated and they then receive an extra amount depending on their attendance. Children who have achieved a set threshold are then able to attend an end of year trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Q: When can I discuss my child's progress?

A: Our doors are always open! So please, if you would like to discuss your child's progress, any concerns you have or would just like a general update, come in and see us! In the autumn term we hold welcome meetings, two parents' evenings in the spring term and then finally we send reports out in the summer term. Y6 staff also meet with parents each half -term on a 'parents' day'.

Q: Where can I find more information?

A:  Our website is full of useful information about our school and the work our children do. Take a look around and if there is something in particular you would like to know, please contact the office.
