Churchfield Primary School

Grow Achieve Shine

Our Philosophy

Throughout our journey at Churchfield together, we will inspire each other to grow, achieve and shine. We respect and celebrate all as valued individuals. We provide a supportive, safe and happy environment: where the doors to life-long learning are opened and success is measured in smiles. We are an inclusive school, and strive to develop determination, honesty, respect, passion, teamwork and self-belief in all of our pupils so that they can be the best version of themselves. We take our pupils on a journey, in which they grow as confident learners, all achieve in their own way and shine as individuals.

Our School Values underpin everything we do at Churchfield, and are central to out vision and ethos. Pupils are awarded House Points for displaying these values of: determination, honesty, passion, respect, self-belief and teamwork.

Headteacher's Welcome

A warm welcome to Churchfield Primary School’s website!  We hope our website gives you a clear insight into our school and the outstanding work of our talented children and staff.  At Churchfield we pride ourselves on providing a warm welcome to everyone who walks through our doors. In fact visits to see our school and meet us in person are encouraged and welcomed.

Our building although Victorian, provides a warm, welcoming and visually engaging environment which promotes a love of learning!  Our classrooms are high quality learning environments which display children’s work proudly, giving all who work here a sense of belonging and achievement.

All our buildings have security pad entry systems and all gates are locked during the school day to provide a safe, secure place for our children to learn and play. The Early Years Foundation Unit has a separate fenced outdoor play area.  At Churchfield I have a saying which the children can and do quote to anyone who will listen ` the most important thing is to be safe`.

Some of the comments from our last two OFSTED visits have been:

"I wish school was open at the weekends," - Pupil

"Your school is a happy and lively place, where pupils feel safe and well cared for," - OFSTED

"Many parents and carers say school goes ‘above and beyond' " - OFSTED

As a school we try to provide the children with a wide variety of hands on experiences at every opportunity. We enjoy taking the children on educational visits, residential visits and to compete in local sporting competitions.

Our pupils enjoy coming to school and have a great love for learning.  They are inspired by and benefit from many positive experiences which enhance our broad and relevant school curriculum. Through spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, Information Technology, enterprise and learning about the wider world around them we provide them with the skills, life experiences and knowledge which will empower them to become citizens of the future, equipped for life in Modern Britain and an ever changing world.

Teaching at Churchfield is very effective as teachers, teaching assistants and all support staff form a competent and professional team that I am extremely proud of.  Tasks for children are planned systematically using prior assessment to meet each pupil’s needs.  Lessons are lively and engaging.  We are a fully inclusive school that meets the needs of all children by using `best endeavours` to develop academic and socio-emotional skills.  At Churchfield, everyone is part of our team; we value the contributions of all stakeholders and welcome the opportunities the wider community can bring.

We expect our children to have high aspirations and provide challenging experiences which will support them to reach their goals. Our motto is Grow, Achieve, Shine.
