Note: Our curriculum is under review and being developed for September 2019
Our KS1 and KS2 works on a two year rolling programme. This ensures that no child within a phase repeats the same topic, or a similar topic. Whilst studying a certain theme, our classes are transformed into immersive environments that empower our pupils to become involved and invested in their learning. Visit the 'Pupils' page to find out more.
At Churchfield Primary School we follow the guidelines set out in the 2014 National Curriculum and the EYFS Statutory Framework. We firmly believe in the value of each of the subject areas to a child's overall development, and offer a broad, varied and engaging curriculum that accounts for all learning styles.
Our creative curriculum retains a strong emphasis on English, Maths and Science skills. However, there is an equally strong focus on the non-core subject areas and developing the child as a whole, in order to provide them with the skills required to be responsible members of modern society and deal with the challenges of the world in which we live. Our ethos is that of the child as a life long long learner, and we work hard to ensure all our pupils have a love of learning that stays with them for the rest of their lives.

Reading & Phonics
In KS1, pupils follow the Letters & Sounds programme of study for phonics. For reading we use the Oxford Reading Tree Scheme and all of our pupils have free access to wide range of high quality reading resources.
Here you will find out two-year rolling plan for each year group. Each term is based around a theme, and a two-year rolling system is used so that no child repeats the same topic twice.
